The Thurston table combines a traditional old-world base with a distinctive real cement top and rustic timber, creating an unexpected industrial look. The top is crafted from fiber-reinforced concrete, offering the authenticity of concrete with enhanced durability and reduced permeability. Its foam-core construction significantly lightens the table top's weight.
The base is made from Acacia solid wood, sandblasted to highlight its texture, and finished in a lightly-washed honey color with a matte lacquer top coat. It is also fitted with non-marking nylon glides for floor protection. The semi-porous wax finish over the natural cement means unattended spills may leave stains.
This 30-inch-high table is designed for dining chairs with an 18-inch seat height. It features a 2-inch thick top, 28-inch floor clearance, 45 inches between table legs, and an 11-inch overhang at the ends, comfortably seating 6-8 people. Assembly is straightforward.
Please note that natural wood must breathe and will respond to environmental conditions, leading to potential shrinkage, expansion, and plank movement over time. These are normal and do not compromise the piece's structural integrity. With proper care, this solid wood furniture can last for generations.
To maintain, dust frequently with a clean, lint-free cloth and clean with a soft, damp cloth using mild soap and water, ensuring thorough drying. Avoid acidic cleaning products as they can damage the surface. To ensure longevity, periodically re-wax the table surface every 3 to 6 months, depending on use, with a paraffin-based stone floor wax.
